› Check-In Information
Passengers are reminded to arrive early at the airport in order to allow plenty of time for check-in procedures, baggage drop-off and security checks.

If traveling within Canada:

Air Canada recommends you arrive at the airport 60 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure.

The cut-off time for checking in is 30 minutes before scheduled departure time.

If traveling within or to/from the U.S:

Air Canada recommends you arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure.

The cut-off time for checking in is 45 minutes before scheduled departure time.

If traveling to/from an international destination (including Mexico and the Caribbean):

Air Canada recommends you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight's scheduled departure.

The cut-off time for checking in is 60 minutes before scheduled departure time.

› Baggage Allowance
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:

Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 21.5 in x 15.5 in x 9 in/55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm (length x width x height)

Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 22 lb/10 kg

Maximum Dimensions of Personal Item: 17 in x 13 in x 6 in/43 cm x 33 cm x 16 cm (length x width x height)

Maximum Weight of Personal Item: 22 lb/10 kg

REMINDER: Bulkhead seats do not have underseat storage during take-off and landing.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Economy Passengers:

Maximum Dimensions per bag: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)

Maximum Weight per bag: 50 lb/23 kg

Excess, Overweight, Oversize Baggage Fees

› Forbidden Items
Sharp objects are not permitted as carry-on items. Place these and any cutting or piercing items in your Checked Baggage. Prohibited items include:

Straight razors and razor blades

Box cutters

Hatchets, hunting knives, jackknives (Swiss army knives), meat cleavers

Tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, drills, crowbars and heavy tools

Exception: Syringes or needles for personal medical use (e.g. Epipens) are allowed in carry-on baggage providing needle guards are in place, and that they are properly labelled or accompanied by properly labelled prescription medication (a proper label contains name of medication, patient's name and issuing medical office or pharmacy).

Other prohibited items include:

Fuel, lighters (except Bic-type lighters) and other items defined as Dangerous goods.

Air Canada History
Air Canada was set up by the Canadian government in April 1937 as Trans Canada Air Lines . In September, flights between Vancouver and Seattle where inaugurated using a Lockheed 10A twin. A domestic route network was soon established within Canada.
